I completely understand that perspective. There’s something uniquely disciplined and haunting about Sacred Deer. To me it feels like all of Lanthimos’ instincts — emotional alienation, ritual, absurdity, cruelty, stillness, dread — fully lock into place here in a way that becomes genuinely disturbing.
And Barry Keoghan’s performance is such a huge part of why the film lingers the way it does.
